Ne Obliviscaris

St. Andrews Hall in downtown Detroit had a great turnout for what would no doubt be an amazing how. Cradle of Filth headlining the tour with Butcher Babies and Ne Obliviscaris. From the moment Ne Obliviscaris took the stage I witnessed the audience immediately captivated by their sound. Their blend of vocals weaved through a mixture of heavy rifts and violin could only be described a musical journey through the minds of these amazing artists. I watched as the headbanging in the crowd found a rhythm and the audience immersed themselves in the music.GLB_201603040750_7506GLB_201603040756_7771GLB_201603040752_7585

Butcher Babies

The crowd was ready for Butcher Babies to take the stage, although I’m not sure security was. Butcher Babies is a perfect example of the connection a band can have with the crowd. It can only be described as energy, and certain bands are capable of manipulating and controlling this energy towards amazing purpose. This was the case when Heidi and Carla called for crowd surfers to make their way to the stage to see how many “high-fives” they could get. Security rallied together at the front of the stage while the surfers made their way over the barricade holding out their hands to get that satisfactory high-five from either Heidi or Carla, all while they continued to give an incredible performance on stage.

Cradle of Filth

After what appeared to be some minor technical difficulties Cradle of Filth took the stage. The crowd had been waiting for this moment all night and they were hungry for the dark, powerful energy from this band. Lead singer Dani Filth’s vocals are legendary and seeing him perform in person leaves no questions why. Many of the fans in front row were simply starstruck seeing this amazing performer in front of them with shouts of “I love you Dani!” easily heard during brief moments of calm in between songs.
